Celebration of Learning: The Essence of Giving

In September, the Early Years students at the Australian International School (AIS) held their much-anticipated Celebration of Learning—an annual event that brings together children and their parents to reflect on the year’s growth and achievements. This year’s theme, The Essence of Giving, took the children on a joyful journey exploring various forms of giving—from self-care to sharing with friends and family and extending their generosity to local and global communities.

The day was filled with excitement as the children led their parents through a range of creative activities. They teamed up to work on colourful art projects, share laughter, and dive into imaginative role-playing as pilots, firefighters, doctors, builders, and other dream jobs. This event, a cherished annual tradition, not only offers pure, unabashed fun but also creates meaningful opportunities to strengthen family bonds.

One of the highlights of the Celebration of Learning is how it gives families a window into the world of Early Years education. Children have the chance to proudly display their creativity and learning, helping parents better understand developmentally appropriate approaches that encourage curiosity, exploration, and joy in the learning process.

AIS Early Learning Village: A Space for Growth

The Australian International School’s Early Learning Village (ELV) is much more than a school—it’s a nurturing and innovative environment where a love for learning blossoms. The ELV embraces a holistic approach to education that fosters academic excellence while celebrating creativity, diversity, and the power of community involvement.

The Celebration of Learning is just one example of how the Early Learning Village builds enriching experiences for children and their families. From interactive classroom activities to outdoor adventures, the ELV ensures that every child is engaged in a wide range of learning opportunities.

Designed by Bogle Architects, the ELV is the world’s largest preschool, spanning over 50,000 square meters. The state-of-the-art campus is designed specifically for Early Years Education, offering Infant Care, Early Years, and Prep students modern amenities including outdoor play decks, a 20-meter swimming pool, gymnastics areas, a library, and more.

Classrooms are thoughtfully organised into pods, each with a teaching kitchen, mini-library, and spacious, open areas for learning and play. Inspired by the Reggio Emilia philosophy, each classroom is connected to an outdoor playground, fostering self-directed exploration. The ELV also includes multi-functional rooms, a library, STEAM facilities, a gym, and covered play areas, ensuring that learning is always hands-on and exciting.

Health and safety are top priorities, with medical support on-site and a modern kitchen providing nutritious meals for all children.
