Shark Shave & Crazy Sock Day 2024
This year’s Shark Shave & Crazy Sock Day at the Australian International School (AIS) was an inspiring success, bringing together our vibrant community in support of an incredibly meaningful cause. Ten courageous students and five dedicated staff members shaved their heads, standing in solidarity with cancer patients and raising funds to support LOVE, NILS, a Singapore-based charity dedicated to empowering children and their families during their cancer journey by providing vital resources and encouragement.
The event, conducted in memory of Hayden Price, who in 2020 was an AIS student courageously battling melanoma from the age of 7, serves as a powerful testament to the strong support and compassion within our school community.

Shaving for Awareness and Solidarity
A cancer diagnosis is life-changing, and for many, losing their hair is one of the most visible and emotional challenges of their journey. Shark Shave was born out of a desire to show solidarity with those facing these challenges. Each year, our AIS community comes together, united by empathy and a shared commitment to making a difference.
This event remains close to the hearts of many within our community. It’s a reminder of loved ones lost and a celebration of resilience and hope. This year, the Sharks Shave and Crazy Sock Day raised over $6,000, which has been donated to LOVE, NILS to further their mission of supporting children with cancer and their families.
Crazy Socks, Big Impact
To add a splash of fun and colour, the entire school donned their wildest and wackiest socks for Crazy Sock Day. The socks brought smiles to faces and further underscored the community’s commitment to celebrating individuality and joy, even in challenging times.

The generosity and selflessness exhibited by our students, teachers, and wider AIS community during this event have made a significant impact. This initiative embodies the spirit of AIS’s core values – respect, compassion, and making a difference in the lives of others.
