AIS participated in the Australian High Commission Singapore International School Art Exhibition
We are very proud to share that the artwork of our AIS Secondary Visual Art students was showcased in the Australian High Commission Singapore International Schools Art Exhibition.
The “IN” Exhibition 22 embodies the meaning of being inclusive, whereby 14 international schools exhibited their students’ best works. On 30th November 2022, over 150 students, parents and teachers gathered at the Australian High Commission for the opening night. The students who represented AIS and exhibited their artworks were: Ariel Li, Jessica Tran, Robertus den Heijer, Alex Veale, Alison Kinneally, Elsa Thomas, Lachlan Saimee, Isabelle Aitken, Yena Ahn, Sofia Andraghetti and Yuna Bae.
The exhibition gave our young artists the opportunity to display their art and what it feels like to be showcased in an exhibition on a big scale. It was definitely an event to remember and we look forward to more in the future.
We want to take this opportunity to thank the AIS teachers for their passion and dedication, and to the artist students for their immense talent!

In anticipation of the art exhibition we caught up with Ali Kinneally, a year 12 student who recently graduated from AIS after being at the school for 8 years.
It’s no surprise to hear that Ali’s favourite subject is art! She explained the reason why she enjoys art so much is because of the AIS art syllabus as it is designed to allow the students to choose what they study, they choose what artist they want to study and even what type of art they want to do. The school allows creative freedom and students can express themselves however they want.
Her favourite piece of art that she has created is a Caravaggio appropriation piece, the reason why it’s her favourite is because it’s a painting and she has always struggled with painting so although it was hard to complete, and felt like a challenge, with a lot of practice she improved. She felt herself grow as an artist, which she admitted was an incredible feeling.
Her favourite artist is a polish artist named Zdzisław Beksiński, because he channels the difficult life he has had into his art work which she finds very inspirational. For Ali, she finds inspiration from her peers as they are all growing at the same time and learning new skills from each other.
Ali shared “art is a branch to growing as a whole, it teaches you to work hard, to be patient, to be creative which you can use in other subjects such as science.”
School life at AIS
At AIS, our mission is to enable our students to realise their potential through exceptional opportunities. Ali is a testament to that as she shares one of the biggest achievements during her journey with the school. “One of the major highlights was the opportunity to showcase my work at the Australian High Commission, if you had told me that was going to happen 3 years ago that I wouldn’t have believed you! It’s thanks to my teachers and friends here at AIS that I was able to grow and I am honoured to be a part of this opportunity that AIS has provided for me.”
She said the best thing about AIS is the opportunities the students receive in academics and leadership. From going overseas to play sports, to showcasing your art at the Australian High commission, the opportunities are endless and any student should feel lucky to be a part of.
During her education at AIS, she cherishes the interactions she had with her teachers and students as that is what gave her the sense of community in the school. There is a deep connection and a level of trust from the teachers which she explained makes AIS a joyful space to learn.
Next year Ali plans to start a bachelor of science at University of Melbourne, we look forward to following her on the journey into the next chapter of her life.
